What an inflatable ice bath really means in UK listings
Listings for an inflatable ice bath, a blow up ice bath or a pop up ice bath mix two families of tub. The first is the rigid inflatable tub. Its whole wall is made of drop-stitch fabric, which becomes stiff once pumped up. These tubs usually hold 500 to 800 litres, weigh 16 to 19 kg empty and are often designed to be connected to a chiller. The second family is the foldable tub. Its wall is a soft insulated fabric held upright by support tubes, and only a ring at the top is inflated, to form the rim.
Both are sold as portable and both pack away, but they are not the same object. A rigid inflatable tub stands on its air pressure and is heavier and bigger. A foldable tub stands on its frame, weighs a few kilos and relies on ice. Knowing which one a listing describes saves you a disappointing unboxing.
